April Event Plotting

April Event - OOC Post

You know the drill! The actual post itself is already up, so we're forgoing a summary this time. This is a post for OOC plotting, questions, maybe even some collaborative effort on figuring out what the more mysterious parts of the event are all about...

Oh, and this time around, investigation as well. Please reply here with a link to a thread where your character is in the process of exploring location(s) with another, and we'll let you know if they'll find anything amiss!

As always, if you have any questions about this event, please leave them here.

Alrighty so just a real quick note since it's getting late, I should be getting to bed and not everyone's going to be piling into Discord:

The name here Bonnie got was Kaneko Kouzai. Meaning of Kouzai aside (it roughly means 'both good and evil', using the kanji for either light/happiness with the kanji for evil/darkness), Kaneko was the name of a magi Sachiko Hatsu fought with previously.

Also worth noting, the translations of the runes. Ni and Neko translated them early on Saturday, and they read 1:1 from a passage in Peer Gynt, one of the books Bonnie found in the basement of the shop.

"In your left eye, first,
I’ll scratch you a bit, till you see awry;
"

"but all that you see will seem fine and brave."

"And then I’ll just cut your right window-pane out
See,
here are the glazier’s tools.
"

"Blinkers you'll wear,
like a raging bull
"

"Then you'll recognize
that your bride is lovely
and ne'er will your vision
be troubled, as now,
with bellcows harping
and sows that dance.
"

"Just think how much
worry and mortification
you'll thus escape from,
year out, year in.
"

"You must remember
your eyes are the fountain
of the bitter and searing
lye of tears."

Any English majors in the house?

Aside from Magi Hot Topic, what other kinds of shops can we safely assume are in the mall area? Primarily, I am wondering about a bookstore and perhaps an alternative medicine/herbal remedies type store (or maybe just your typical incense shop gasp). I assume they would both be okay, but I also don't like assuming, especially when my 'real mall' experience equals about 2 places visited over the years. LOL!

so

if one were to investigate, what is the verdict on finding people that might resemble sachiko/does the woman with blue hair in minami-ku look like her at all? ALSO is the incense smell on the girl in kita-ku recognizable to someone who, say, burned illgotten gains from an evil incense shop

so... reading some information about this passage, and the whole play. Peer Gynt is a Danish play, but it was written by Norwegian dramatist Henrik Ibsen. the play follows Peer Gynt's life story, and he's... shall we say, a lot like Osomatsu, is what i thought upon reading the synopsis.

Peer Gynt is a Norwegian farm lad who wastes his time in lazy dreaming, boasting and brawling--a symbol of the man who ever colors truth and fact in wishful compromises, evasion and selfishness.

the character that is speaking in this passage is actually the Troll King, who I believe wants Peer Gynt to marry his daughter? but she's super ugly (Gynt likened her to a sow), so the king is basically saying he'll adjust Gynt's vision so he won't be able to see how ugly she is.

THE TROLL KING: Yes, my son, you certainly must undergo some treatment to cure this troublesome human nature.
PEER GYNT: What will you do ?
THE TROLL KING: I'll scratch you slightly in the left eye [....]

also a glazier is "a person whose profession is fitting glass into windows and doors." since i did not know.

then later, Gynt says to the Troll King "and it says in the family Bible: 'If thine eye offend thee, pluck it out.'"

this passage is... ah, i fear meaning that something bad is probably going to happen to eyes.
