A Further Announcement

Hello all. While we just had a State of the Game, recent events require a further announcement.

Shikki has decided to step down as a mod. Shikki has always been a valuable member of the game; both as a player and as a mod, and was always there to keep things moving along, while also coming up with some awesome ideas for events and the plot of the game. Without her, Kagaku may not be nearly as amazing, so you all can thank her for that. Her contributions as a mod shall be greatly missed.

As you may realise, this leaves me, Bee, as the sole mod of Soulgemmed. If I may be honest... I am unsure what this means for the game. I say this with no ill will towards anyone, but we have lost an enormous portion of the game. I have no intention of throwing in the towel or closing the game without any warning, but I'm sure I am not the only one who is concerned right now. Logic dictates that I should seek out more mods, but until I have a clearer picture of the future of the game, I don't want to do this. There are many different paths we could take at this moment, and I would like to ask you, the players, what your thoughts are.

Should I continue on as normal, seeking out new co-mods in order to make this feasible? Or perhaps, should the game transition to more of a sandbox-esque style of play, still featuring events but on a much more lax scale? Or should the game move into endgame territory? Is there another option you would like to bring up?

Please, I ask to hear what you all would like. I love this game with all of my heart, and I feel especially in this instance... your opinions are paramount.

Thank you.

man. this... is super bumming me out.

i will say that i do not want the game to close, even if it lives on as a sandbox. i'm very invested in the game, and the players. i don't say much on discord, but this is definitely my home game. i plan on sticking around, to the end, if that will be.

maybe... start seeking out mods would be the next step. to gauge interest. if that doesn't help, then think about endgame/sandboxing it. ughhh, i wish i had better options. i know i wouldn't mind helping if you needed lists, or bouncing ideas off of someone.

i think i'm pretty much with this--gauging interest with mod apps sounds like a reasonable next step, and then start to pick at where things might potentially go from there?

that is to say, given there's still a pretty good number of us here in general, it wouldn't hurt to see who's willing and available to help before going much further wrt ending or sandboxing the game outright, you know?

SUFFERING! \o/ And that's my two cents as I basically agree with what everyone else has already so eloquently stated. :-D

Following in the "Let's find some more mods" vote.

As for the players, I'm sure it goes without saying we just need to be patient and proactive during this time of transition. So long as we can keep ourselves entertained while the game is reshuffled, it should hold strong. This is a solid system, intriguing plot, and characters who have plenty of personal growth still to come.

And thank you Bee for shouldering the burden on this one. We're behind ya!

I'm of two minds on this.

On one, I'd love for the game to continue. While I don't foresee it continuing as it has, I've enjoyed my time in this game immensely and I don't want to see it close down under any circumstance. I would say for the sake of simplicity that it continuing on as a sandbox-esque game may be nice as well, something low key that would be less taxing on the one mod we have. Seeking out co-mods as well may be a viable option, if anyone were willing to keep things going.

On the other, I feel like while I do adore this game, if it gets to a point where it's difficult to manage and a lot has to drastically change, then it may be better for it to slowly move towards the end. While having a playerbase that can influence the game has always been fantastic, the issue we do run into is that being that our playerbase has always been fairly small to begin with, newer co-mods would leave less to figure things out for events or any of the other mysteries in town, unless we did gain a surge in new players.

I'm going to be with the game regardless of what happens in the future, and I'll support any decision that comes up. I don't want the game to close at all, and I'll do what I can to keep things afloat from the player side.

It's been a very stressful few days for many of us, but I think many of the remaining players are very invested in this game and will do our part to keep it running. Even though I've only been here a couple of months, I can say the same for myself as well. I have loved playing here in my limited time and I will do whatever is needed to help keep this game going.

My suggestion, like many others, is to look for at least one co-mod, and I will throw my lot in with you if it's needed. If the co-mod thing doesn't work, then we can talk about moving into sandbox-style play.

A smaller cast could also perhaps mean more personalized events for each character, and so on and so forth. Regardless of what happens, I'll be hanging around for as long as I can.

I do think we shouldn't throw in the towel either, but I understand seeking co-mods will take a while and our game is small enough as is. in the interim I'd suggest the next few events be scaled down and less plot heavy, until we get some new members and new mods. I don't know how game advertising works but we should probably do that....?? Daytrip back to Tsukudo-cho 2k17??????

I love this game and I don't want it to die either! I'm with you guys for the ride.

Im in for the duration.

I do suggest slow events until you can find a good co-mod.

But I'm here, even after my hiatus. All my <3
