July State of the Game
Hello everyone! It's time for another State of the Game, and we've got some pretty big news.
The short of it is that Soulgemmed is moving into an endgame state, but this is not the end of the Soulgemmed community as a whole.
I've done a lot, and may I stress, a lot of thinking and debating on this decision. I love you guys as a player base, and you guys are the entire reason that this was a difficult decision to make. You're all incredible people, and together we've managed to weave quite an interesting story. For my first foray into modding, I simply couldn't ask for a better group of people. You made the game what it's been, and let me stress just how much I care about each and every one of you.
However... I cannot continue providing that experience as the game is now. Soulgemmed is a very intensive game to mod, and while I could try to find additional mods I don't think that would be the right choice. It would be difficult to maintain the same level of detail and involvement into events, and I do not wish to create a half-baked experience for you guys. Simply put, you deserve better.
That is why I've decided to move into an endgame situation. You deserve better, and I'm going to give you all the means to do so. After Soulgemmed ends, I will be creating another experience for you all.
The details are still fuzzy, but consider it to be more of a laidback sandbox-esque game, or a more structured musebox, or... I'm not too sure how to describe it quite yet. It will be invite only, and I'm extending an invite to all former and current members of Soulgemmed, though if you wish to move on to other games that is understandable. Apps will exist as more of a formality, there will be a very lax AC with incentives for more activity, and there will be events and an overarching plot, but of a much lower intensity. There will be familiar faces to all, and possibly new ones as well. The tone of the game will be much more lighthearted, but that isn't to say there isn't means for darker subjects to happen.
Also, Miki Morikawa will be your King.
But Bee, what's the timeline on something like this? When's Soulgemmed going to end?
I'm not entirely sure yet! I do not plan on closing Soulgemmed until this new experience is ready to go, as to give players the time to wrap anything up within Nyoi-cho, and to facilitate a smooth transition between the two. I suspect this will take at least two months, and I will keep you all updated if this changes. I am also going to continue with events within Soulgemmed until then, so please look forward to more fun while I get everything situated behind the scenes.
Bee, Bee! What about our characters?!
You'll be able to transplant your characters directly from Nyoi-cho to this new world, if you so wish! Or, if you want to bring new characters over, that's fine as well! You could even wipe them clean and start anew; it's all up to you in the end.
Bee! The narrative?!
The narrative shall continue, and there will be a proper endgame within Nyoi-cho.
And seriously guys, seriously...... I can't being to explain just how much this community we've formed means to me. You're all amazing and it's because of you I feel like I can do this. I've been in RP communities for a long time, and I've never felt so at home in a game. You guys are more than just fellow players--You're friends, you're a community of people that I care about dearly, and I'm honored to be a part of this community. I don't want this community to dissolve away, so I'm going to do my best to keep us all together.
