June Event Details

How do you feel now, good magi? Knowing what you know now - knowing all you are, all that you can do? Does the concept of death mean anything to you now? Were the spoils worth the toll it took upon your soul? Well, perhaps only you can answer that. Marching Onward Though returning to the regular daily activities may be difficult after the trials of the labyrinth, all seems peaceful at long last. There is no flood, no mysterious puzzles, nothing but daily life. It's a much needed breather from the chaos. There's school to attend, businesses to run, apologies to be made, and of course, Nightmares to fight. But for the first time in months the magi of Nyoi-cho can breathe. There is a festival happening in town on the 18th. Stalls will be set up so that characters can participate in carnival games, and characters will also be allowed to set up stalls of their own. The festival of stars is a night to be thankful for all the peace within the world. Lighting a lantern and setting it free into the night sky is a tradition within the city of Nyoi-cho. It's symbolic of letting go of all of one's fear and anxieties, and accepting all the miracles the world has to offer. Time Travel But as you surely know by now, dear magi, peace does not last. There is no warning when it happens. All at once, something erupts. The sky blackens and the world washes out. Instead of the sleepy seaside town, the Magi find themselves in another time. Another place. The place they find themselves in is not the Nyoi-cho they know. Though Nyoi-cho is indeed an old town, this one is much older... and newer, at the same time. The architecture does not match the classical Japanese influence that is present throughout the town, instead resembling those of a bygone era; despite this, the buildings show no signs of age. The landscape does not change and shift on a whim, less ephemeral and more rooted to reality than that of the nightmarescapes the magi have grown so accustomed to. Though the colors seem a touch too saturated to be natural, and the town they find themselves in seems to be perpetually cloaked in night, it seems to be more real than anything they have encountered in a nightmarescape thus far. And it is dark. There is no moon present in the sky. The Awakening Say goodbye to your lackadaisical days, dear magi. THIS PORTION OF THE EVENT IS TIME-SENSITIVE. IT WILL GO UP ON THE 24TH AT 12:00 PM EST AND WILL END, AT THE EARLIEST, ON THE 27TH AT 12:00 AM EST. Will it still be possible to affect the boss fight if we're popping in as of the 26th? I have my monthly LARP on the 24th so I won't be there for the beginning. I know generally the answer is yes, I just want to be sure as I won't be back before sunday night.

So ICly, will there be a notice about the festival happening? Just so that those who wish to run a stall can?

Preparations for the festival will begin a few days in advance, and it'll be all the townspeople can talk about from now until the event goes up! If you hang around the park or eavesdrop on the natives, you'll know about it in advance.

When transported, will the clothing the magi are wearing or anything they are carrying be altered or will this solely be a change to the area around them?

Will they be able to easily figure out when/where they are? i.e. finding a newspaper or whatever. Will the festival still be going on after transporting to where they are? Same festival with different people? Will there be any NPCs there? Will there be street lamps or is there no light at all without the moon?

Will they still be able to get to their houses?

They will not be able to figure out when/where they are. Their surroundings will look entirely unfamiliar to them. The festival will not be going on. They will not be able to locate their houses.

If one of the conscious magi who have been exposed to the insight quite a bit hide out for a bit away from the moon and all of the monsters, if they return to the field would they still be able to see hallucinations?

That would depend on how good they are at hiding!

(In other words, a proper answer to this question has been told to the player in private. Anyone asking a similar question should also contact the mods before going through with anything!)

They will not be compelled to fight.

They cannot understand the speech of fellow magi, but writing will be unaffected.

Before everything goes to heck, Madoka will be helping run the hospital's blood drive and check-up stall! She'll be helping with blood pressures and basic check-in stuff, and if you donate blood, she's also in charge of the cantina. Free cookies and juice of you donate! :3

She can be coaxed to take breaks to play carnival games and light a lantern, though! So feel free to have your characters do so!

Garviel at a festival is something I've always wanted to do, and him learning about earth festivals will make for great fun. Could we do that together with the heart of the team and the Smiting Fist?

Ryoko's definitely going to the festival, because boy does she need it. It's something nice and soothing for her, and she's very likely to light one of the lanterns. It's the first nice and easy thing she's gotten to do, and she'll be happy for it. you've all been spared from the Oden booth.

Our intrepid red hooded girl is gonna be a busy bee the next few days! She's still got some empty bottles for fire bombs, so she's going to be using a few of those to run a little game! You know the one. Knock the bottle over, win a prize. You're disqualified if you attempt to mangle the booth runner. I have not decided on what the prize is. She's also going to be half working with Shinoa on a ~fun little obstacle course~. Just so everyone is happy and ready for whatever's coming.

Ichimatsu is going to somehow wind up here. Not even dressed to be at a festival. But he'll be skulking about, avoiding eye contact.

Additionally, she'll be running an OBSTACLE COURSE OF DOOM, tentatively at the school! You didn't vote her out of power in the mingle log, now she's going to whip you into shape. Bonnie will be co-conspirator, which should give an idea of the difficulty level they're aiming for.

Lilith is gonna destroy this obstacle course she will be SO excited for it... until she realises Bonnie had things to do with it. BUT that gives her more reason to kick the course's butt!

okay I've thought more about it, it'll be mostly a get-over-the-obstacle course with maybe the last stretch of outdoor corridor being outright throwing-shit-at-you. Does Bonnie have any suggestions she wants to implement, especially for the part where we maybe hide in bushes and throw water bombs at people

Raven Queen will most likely be helping Madoka, since she also works at the hospital as a candy striper.

... Buuut she will definitely take extremely long breaks so she can play some games and enjoy the festival. She can finally relax! ... For a good couple of minutes!

Lilith has never been to a festival before! You can find her wandering around in confusion, but very excited over the prospect of food. She's also going to completely ace Shinoa's obstacle course, or um...... maybe not because she's still recovering from her "fun" with Bonnie. It'd be a pity if she didn't wear this!

Taiga, in an effort to ease some of her anxiety about being a Magi and how ridiculously unhappy she is in Nyoi-cho... is gonna be all about that lantern lighting! Nothing like a festival to take your mind off all the nonsense happening, so she can relax and refocus herself. Also, she's gonna destroy any of the carny games that pop up with the force of an angry tiger. And of course... she has to dress up.

Ringo will be so excited for a festival! She's gonna chat up everyone she can and just be her typical adorable self! You look like you aren't having fun? She's gonna make you have fun. No yukata for Ringo, though!

Lemmy's going to be showing off his magic act during the festival, which means he'll be transformed and using up his magic long before he'll actually need it. He's never actually figured out that his passive ability makes people pay attention to him so this is a good excuse to finally clue him in.

Alice will be at the festival, running through the courses and the like, but will take a break to see what Madoka and Raven are up to, maybe tag some people she's never met before even.
