July Event Details

You wake up in your bed. The sun is streaming through your window, your alarm is buzzing next to your ear. Another night, another dream - but now it's time to face reality. You sigh as you trundle through your morning routine. Nothing ever happens in this town. As far as you're concerned, everything in Nyoi-cho is the same as always. You've always lived here. It's not a big town, so you pretty much know everybody here. Sure, sometimes you get lost in your own little world - but that's all just pretend! You know that your real life is here, rooted to the mundane little world that is Nyoi-cho. Although... You have to admit, sometimes things seem a bit odd when you really think about it. People go missing on occasion, and the sleeping sickness is getting worse than ever now, spreading like a plague over the town. Still... This town has been peaceful for as long as anyone can remember. Surely that won't change anytime soon, right? Life is but a dream. Starting on the 8th, the characters will wake up in their houses... but not their magi houses. The houses they wake in are normal, non-magical, mundane houses. That's not the only change upon waking up - the characters will not remember their identity as magi. They won't even remember where they came from, believing that they are normal everyday people who were born and raised here in Nyoi-cho. This is going up early so that you can all draft backstories. NPC parents, siblings, stories - your history with your fellow magi! An Unexpected Visitor From the shroud that dulls the minds of the magi, an unexpected source pulls them from the darkness?! Who is her family? Everyone. Even if it makes no sense, because she's unofficially adopting everyone. She herself currently lives with some classmates, having transferred here from Mitakihara.

I had kind of a weird idea I wanted to run by you.

I was thinking it might be fun to replicate the circumstances behind Aradia's demise in this AU. Basically because no version of Sollux is allowed to be happy, and also because I think it would be fun to traumatize the human him. Just for the extra emotional jab it will have once he remembers I thought it might be fun to involve Madoka in this idea somehow?

It's cool if you're not into it, just an idea I had.

Cassandra Marko is your average girl in most respects. She enjoys art class and running track, she doesn't have a lot of self confidence though and tends to err on the side of humility.

She loves comic book superheroes though which makes her a little weird by traditional standards. So basically Sandy will be your average geeky, awkward pre-teen.

Anyone want to be part of her family or social links?

She claims a friend found it when it was a baby and the two of them raised it together. Then her friend moved away and let her keep the duck.

I think it would be particularly amusing if Azula had like...a perfectly happy and healthy family life here and we see how that might have changed the woman she became.

Like she's still talented and smart but maybe she actually has some compassion and humility.

So instead of being the bitchy rich girl that everyone would expect, maybe she's kind of a goody good. Like the kind who would run for class president or get a job as soon as she was old enough to build on her resume.

SO LET'S GET PLANNING!

Bonnie is living with her Grandma and her older sister! Who just happens to look just as cute and friendly as she is. She's precious and precocious as heck, and happens to attend school. She's not got the best record, since she's tardy once in a while. Finding her way to school can be tricky sometimes!

Ryoko lives on her own-- her parents are overseas for work, and she acts as the older sister/motherly type to her friends, as expected. She's got a part-time job at a nice restaurant in town, and acts as class rep in school. She hasn't joined a club thanks to her job, but she's still able to keep up with her added work.

Ichimatsu lives on his own, in between jobs and out of work for the most part. He's often seen around town, sitting on benches and generally, looking like he doesn't belong there. Of course, he's made a few acquaintances in his time in Nyoi-cho, some of whom are childhood friends of his, or friends of friends. Et cetera. He's got a cat, and they're usually inseparable. For the most part, despite his pessimistic nature, he's still glad to have a home there.

If anyone wants to slide in as friends/prospective roommates/et cetera lemme know! Even rivals, in some cases!

Sieglinde is a high school dropout who works at her family brewery in town. Despite the stereotypes of dropouts, she's actually quite a clever, hardworking teenager - it's just that she's always wanted to run the family business and that's not something she actually needs a diploma to do.

That being said, though, she's not running it yet - and in the meantime she's a kind and friendly girl, more than willing to make friends with the other kids her age. When she's not working, she's often seen at the park, at the local teenage hangouts or working out in the makeshift gym she's got in her backyard (ie her dad's old lifting bench & weights, and a set of hand-barbells she spent her hard-earned hourly wage on). Strength is pretty important to her - you can't spend all day hauling around barrels of booze without some muscle mass, after all.

Despite not being in high school anymore, she's still pretty popular with the kids her age. Mostly because she's got the hookup if you want to get your hands on some liquor.

Lately she's been hanging out a lot with that snarky Lalonde girl. There are some rumors about those two, but nothing confirmed.


Also, lastly: Her family's most famous brew (really, the only thing they make that's worth a damn) is called Siegbräu and it comes with the tagline "Strong Enough to Wake the Dead." It'll knock you on your ass.

...as the brew that he took like three sips of and immediately got drunk off of. He's the worst kind of lightweight. He still tries it though, every so often. Might be nice to have if he has company.

Raven Queen, boy she has such strict parents! They want her to follow in their footsteps, down to a T. But she loves them, because they just want what's best for her. She plays guitar in music class, and her favorite hobby is reading fairy tales. She likes to escape the normal, boring life she has sometimes by pretending she's in them. How silly, for a girl her age!

Since these two have already become friends in one world it seems fitting that in this new world Azula would like and respect Raven. Probably even likes fairy tales since Princesses are pretty great...though Azula prefers more modern takes on them where the Princess doesn't always need rescuing

I'm up for any relations you wanna pitch. She's probably friends with Lilith... and also Bonnie? You can do that now that they're not actively trying to kill each other, right

She's been sent to school here from a bigger city and tentatively homestays with a cafe owner, living over their place near the library. Her grades aren't the best, and her heart really lies in the extracurriculars... like taekwando! And the theatre club! And water bomb matches in the summertime!!

Of course they're friends!!! Lilith still works at the cafe, so she's inevitably around Shinoa a lot... and probably enables her to not really care about school as much. "Look at me, it doesn't matter!" as she struggles to do basic math.

Sayaka is your average highschool girl living an average highschool life. She's all about extra-curricular activities, like the local anime club and the music club, but isn't that great in school. What she lacks for in natural smarts she tries to make up for in enthusiasm and studying hard, but only when people aren't looking.

She lives with her parents in an upscale part of town.

If your character needs an overbearing friend who will push them out of their comfort zone and into new things, Sayaka's your girl.

Hey there buddy with well off-parents and an interest in anime! Taiga could use an overbearing friend!!! They can go out for parfaits together, and lord knows that Taiga needs someone who can force her to do things despite being an insecure small child who trips over her own feet sometimes.

Lilith is one of those weirdly helpful young adults who gets over invested in her friendships with people! She's living with her older sister, Morrigan, who's a bartender and is very clearly the more popular sister of the two. Lilith says she doesn't mind, but she'll go out of her way to help people out to win their favor. Don't have enough money to eat at the cafe? No worries, server Lilith will cover it for you~ She's also very protective of the school aged kiddos, and is pretty much that weird aunt to them all that enables them to skip school so they can get free cake at her work.

Ringo lives with her dearest Grandma and beloved younger sister, Bonnie! She's still just as wicked on the inside, but rather than using that to gather information and run her own loan-shark business, she just uses it to get her way. Who could turn down a crying child? She's a very diligent student as well, and overall gets along with everyone.

Taiga lives with her parents! They never divorced, so Taiga never had to deal with the issues that came from them separating. What does this mean? Taiga is generally a very pleasant girl! She's not the best in school, and can be pretty clumsy at times, but she's a good kid who means well. Taiga frequently volunteers to help at the elementary school, and she's surprisingly very good with kids. They call her Miss Tiger, and she does the beeeest growl when they ask her nicely!

Lilith and Sieglinde should be friends! I imagine they might've met through Morrigan (who knows her from work), but get along just fine on their own.

Linde isn't in high school anymore - but as long as she's not on the clock, she'd be more than willing to go get a snack and have a chat with Lilith.

Would-be delinquent extraordinaire, Hoshiko Ohka reporting for duty!

-> Hoshiko is captain of the Track Team, which is more or less the only time anyone will see her alert and willing to participate. She's notoriously slack at school and keeps her grades at the bare minimum needed to participate in clubs. She lives with her parents in a tiny apartment.

-> Hoshiko has a part time job at a local flower shop. She regularly goes out to eat and isn't terribly shy about dragging some poor unsuspecting person along to eat dinner with (and will pay, if they don't have the money). If you live in Nyoi-cho, you can bet your bottom dollar she's attempted to befriend you.

-> Hoshiko can sometimes be found at the edge of town, staring down at her phone with a puzzled expression on her face.

She'll be available for threading all through the event! If you want pre-established CR, friendships, rivalries, living in mortal fear of being forced into one of her endlessly social moods, this is the place to do it! She's open to it all.

For this event, Vergil will be a college dropout who instead works full-time at the restaurant he's...already been working at. He works hard as its lead chef, but instead of doing it to pass the time, he works to provide for himself and his AU'd younger brother, Asriel (pleasereset). Without the tragedy of his childhood following him in this event, Vergil will be noticeably more approachable and significantly less cold to everyone he meets. Still a bit of a snob with the occasional air of superiority, sure, but he'll happily play the role of older brother to anyone who'd like one, biological or not.

Which may mean cooking for others now and then or helping people get a job at the restaurant, if they need one.

Apple White is high school's resident rich Queen Bee.

- She competes heavily to be Student Council President every year, using her parents' money to fund school improvements and give out swag. If she loses she will be whatever the next best thing is and try to get everyone on her side from within.
- She kisses up to the teachers and has them wrapped around her little finger.
- She's perfectly sweet until you get in her way, at which point there'll probably be a rumor spread about you by morning.
- She's flirty enough with the boys to throw off suspicion about how she's never actually been attached to any of them.
- She "has to" volunteer at the library for school credit, good thing she could secretly spend all day there reading fantasy and romance novels.

Chiaki Nanami is That Kid. You know, the one that sits in the back of every class buried in her PSP. And yet somehow, everyone seems to know her and finds her easy to talk to. She's president of the math club (this year at a record high of 5 students), because she likes the logic puzzles & games at the monthly competitions. Sometimes she drags her console to school because there's a game she's at a thrilling moment in and darn if she'll let something like school get in the way of finishing it!! If you decide to approach her for a competition, just know what you're getting into.

In the halls or in the streets, she can often be found humming to herself and skipping a little. This is a girl who's pretty happy a lot of the time.

Rose Lalonde is Nyoi-cho's Resident Snark. Like, almost all of it. On the days she actually attends classes, she spends the whole time either making comments under her breath or focusing on her fanfic. This is the girl who brought her entire kit of knitting to 301 English Lit because she'd already read Ulysses. Three times.

Lately she's been hanging out a lot with that girl who runs the brewery. There are some rumors about the two, but nothing's confirmed.

For the record: Linde isn't into many of the same fandoms as Rose, but she loves to hear Rose explain them, and then subsequently (if she's feeling confident about it) tell her about the fanfics she's writing. She loves hearing about the sorts of things that Rose is into - and even has a few things she ships, entirely based off of the second-hand knowledge given to her by Rose.

Also: I'm just going to assume Rose has a blog. Tell me about it.

Sollux Captor
Sollux will think of himself as a normal human 14 year old who's lived in Nyoi-Cho his whole life. He and his twin brother (moodswiingiing) live at home with their Mom (Brittany, who is intensely career focused) and Dad (Gregory, works from home, takes care of the kids). Their family is pretty well off so they don't want for much. Their mother has encouraged Sollux and Soren to be highly competitive from a young age, and so these two are always trying to one up each other. They compete at everything.

Despite growing up human Sollux is still basically a big jerk. He makes fun of basically everyone, because again, he is highly competitive and therefore thinks he is better than everyone else. Still, he is much more willing to show compassion than he is as a troll and is more honest and straightforward in general than his troll self.


Some Basic Info

1. He actually studies hard in school so that he can get better grades than Soren. Suck it twin!
2. He is in the math club, basically because his BFFL (best friend forever in life) is the President, and also because it's competitive.
3. He sucks at sports and hates them and thinks they're boring, but pretends not to just so people don't realize he sucks at them as much as he does.
4. He joined Model UN just to try and start World War IV. He got kicked out of Model UN for this.
5. Obviously he still loves video games, and he is probably better at them than you are.

Normally he can be found playing video games with Chiaki after school. Common weekend hang out spot for him is probably the convenience store, because Sollux is trash.

Sieglinde isn't really in high school anymore, but I've decided she plays a pickup game of rugby every other week. Sieginde's a friendly girl, even if she doesn't know Sollux or his brother very well, and since Sollux pretends not to hate sports, I think it'd be funny if she occasionally invited him into their game?

Cue Sollux having to come up with some sort of excuse not to join.

Pokey Minch is an entitled, selfish, troublemaking asshole of a sixteen year old. His family is decently well-off if somewhat distant in any sense of affection towards him, so the dude essentially believes he can do whatever he pleases. He's often absent from school and, on top of being a delinquent, is a massive bully and hooligan, often either causing and/or leading others to cause trouble around town. He's also craven, often allowing others to take the fall for him or trying to hide behind others in order to avoid trouble if given the chance.

Essentially, he's much closer to his canon self than how he's developed through all the dumbass jamjar adventures he's had.

I'm mostly looking for other possible hooligans/punkasses who would hang out with him to cause trouble, people for him to bully, people who stand up to him/that he's scared of, and if anyone wanted to go through the torture of it, siblings/family members.

Sieglinde doesn't care much for Pokey's snotty attitude or his tendency to push people around. Like the valiant knight she is at heart, she takes it upon herself to stand up to the little punk whenever she sees him pulling that shit in her presence. Primarily, she chooses to do this with violence.

Meaning she'll dunk the little twerp in a trash can. She doesn't have the patience for his nonsense.

I will be on hiatus for the first chunk of this event, so after talking with the mods, it has been determined that Dave Strider, Kyouko Sakura, Chara, and Axel will be sleeping in their magi houses until such time that my hiatus ends.

When they awaken, they will have adjusted poorly to the changes and will still largely have their memories intact. However, other characters may have differing and conflicting impressions of what role these characters played in their life/in the town (for example, one person might believe Kyouko to be a classmate, while another may remember her as a high school dropout) while some may straight-up have entirely forgotten their existence.

Basically, my characters are gonna suffer and probably have several existential crises.

First of all, since I'm a jerk, Kakyoin's going to be called Tenmei Kakyoin instead of Noriaki for all Nyoi-cho AU purposes. (Don't ask me why. Or do, I'm a comment, not a cop.)

He'll be an honor student with an immaculate disciplinary record as well as a member of the art club (mostly working with paint, naturally) finishing his last year of high school. It's likely he'll have expressed an interest in a geological field of study while looking for a good university.

As for his family, he lives at home with his mother Fujiko and his father Noriyuki, the latter of which is a professor often away for purposes of some nonspecific research. (God only knows what that nerd gets up to.) Unless anyone's up for AU'd family relationships (which i am 100% open to) I'll probably keep it to just that with the occasional mention of his Italian half-brother that moved due to his job or something.

ANYWAY. Intense amount of studying aside, usually during lunch and any other downtime at school he's probably buried in one handheld game or another. Like we're talking 'intense EV training several radically different competitive-level Pokemon teams and arguing with people over the Internet' level of gaming. God save you if you get matched up against Hierophant_Emerald in an online game of any sort because git gud scrublord.

(Why that name? He thought it sounded kinda cool and green is his favorite color.)

ANYWAYx2: if anyone wants in on any part of this at all, just hit me up here and i'll adjust/plan accordingly. Give me all the blood feuds over videogames, guys.

ETA: OH YEAH ALMOST FORGOT, i have no idea what the state of the event (or the city, for that matter) will be by this point but Kakyoin's birthday is July 26th. So that's. A thing.

What a peaceful life the characters lead here in idyllic Nyoi-Cho. Everyone in this town is so carefree, so innocent.

...What a shame it would be if something were to shatter that innocence.

This is my attempt to organize a player plot for those of you who want to take advantage of your character's temporary ignorance. This is an opportunity to traumatize or break normally resilient or hardened characters! If you have any interest, even if you disagree with the rest of the ideas in this comment, let me know by responding!

Since the characters no longer remember death isn't permanent I thought the best way to create trauma would be a good old fashioned Murder. A murder would be a great way to involve a number of characters in a variety of roles.


People We'd Need

• The Victim(s)- The person who dies. Perhaps the victim of unintentional manslaughter, a crime of passion, or a freak accident. Obviously the specifics behind the death will need to be worked out later. This role is the most important, but also the one requiring the least involvement. One interesting twist would be the character reviving from their soul gem before the event ends. Will they remember their murder? Will they try to take revenge?


• The Murderer(s)- There are a variety of reasons people kill each other. Sometimes it is a "crime of passion" or other times out of vengeance. You might not have even meant for this to happen. Maybe you'r victim started a fight they couldn't finish. It could even be the result of an accident, traffic or otherwise. Whether you intentionally did it or not, you've killed someone. How you cope with that, and who you seek help from, well, that's up to you.


• The Accomplice(s)- You know what happened. Either you helped the murderer plan the crime, helped them conceal it, or helped them evade arrest in some way. Whether it's something as simple as lending the aggressor a place to stay or something as complicated as disposing of the body. You are intentionally trying to impede the discovery of this crime and the arrest of the person who did it.


• The Accessor/y/ies- You don't know the whole truth, but you have your suspicions. Maybe you encouraged the killer before they took action. Maybe they asked for help in a way that left room for doubt. The thing about helping criminals is, you can be charged with a crime for assisting them even if you didn't see or know of their crime. Anyone who unwittingly encourages the killer, helps them conceal their crime or helps them evade arrest can be an accessory.


• The Witness(es)- You either saw or heard the crime taking place. If you help the killer after the fact this makes you an accomplice, not a witness. What you do with the information you have is up to you. Maybe you're use it as blackmail. Maybe you tell or call the police. Witnesses who would go straight to the cops without hesitation must get permission OOC from the killer's player first.


• The Discoverer(s)- You stumbled upon evidence or the crime scene after the fact. You don't know what happened, but you know you have to call the cops or tell someone what you found.


• The Investigator(s)- Whether you're working with the police or not, you are determined to find out what really happened. The investigator wants to find out what crime was committed and who is responsible.


• The Avenger(s)- Someone close to you was killed and you'll do whatever it takes to avenge them, even if it means getting your hands dirty.

Not all of these roles need to be filled! Furthermore there can be multiple people fulfilling each role who may OR may not be working in tandem. Obviously the two roles we need the most are the role of the Victim and the Murderer.


So who's interested in turning this peaceful town upside down? If you have any interest at all, please reply! Feel free to comment on which role your character would be most likely to take.

Murderer/Accessory/Witness

Personally, I am very interested in an accidental murder, but depending on who else volunteers I'd also be cool with Sollux being a witness, or an accessory. He probably wouldn't go to the cops just because he'd be too freaked out at what he saw/afraid of the killer targeting him.

All right so here's what I have so far for Lemmy:

-He's still a trouble-making brat, maybe even moreso, because there's no such thing as too many delinquents amirite. He's the quintessential annoying little brother. Basically nothing has changed in that respect.

-Still has a dream of being a great magician/entertainer, except in mundane land he's awful at it. Obviously he has no magic, and in addition he's lost all of his acrobatic ability, can't juggle to save his life, his magic tricks backfire in his face, etc. He still tries, though. Oh my god does he try.

-Instead of being good at magic? He's good at SPORTS! Because he's a Mario character after all. Tennis, baseball, soccer, and especially go-kart racing are his favorites. and secretly a huge fan of board games and he's completely merciless at them.

-He's going to look like a human for the entirety of the event! His hair is not naturally a rainbow mohawk but instead the result of a dare gone wrong.

I haven't thought of what to do with his family/living situation yet, so if anyone needs a bratty younger sibling hmu

Garviel is going to be someone's cool dad from the UK. He's a businessman and is generally away from home a lot. He might have been a soldier once, he doesn't talk about it, but he's just a big, kind, rather quiet presence in the life of whoever decides to be his kid. Any volutneers?

SUPER SUPER SUPER LATE, but! Miki Morikawa is the student council president who's really just a figurehead who pawns any and all actual work onto the vice president.

» She's friendly and bubbly enough to everyone, but it's surprisingly hard to form an actual meaningful friendship with her. She'll unashamedly approach you if she needs something from you, but she skillfully evades most attempts to get too close to her with comments like, "oh my gosh, I'm sorry! I'm super busy, so I've really gotta get going now. Some other time, okay?" and "Hmm... Y'know, as student council president, I've gotta spend time with everyone equally! It just wouldn't be right if accusations of favoritism started flying around, would it?"
» She has good grades, but she absolutely can't stand being scolded or being put on the spot. As a result, she isn't afraid to talk back to her teachers and sometimes has a rocky relationship with them in spite of her academic standing.
» When it comes to festivals and school outings, she puts her all into making them as flashy and spectacular as possible. A huge attention hog.

Absolutely not fond of the way she talks to teachers or how much she milks the spotlight, probably spends a lot of her time talking to the vice president since that's who gets everything done.
