August Event Details

Early in the month, all characters will receive a mysterious message that contains a link to a website pushing forth a very unique ideology: happiness is a finite resource that must be actively fought over. The Website All magi, upon clicking on the link, will find that they are already logged in and have a profile that can be viewed by only them. Said profile will contain information of their full name, a photograph, and a number next to a column titled "POINTS." In addition to that, depending on who the viewer is, the message on the main page will be slightly personalized to reflect their innermost desires. Site Personalization Since the site tailors its main page and messages to each individual reader, please leave us a comment in this post detailing your character's desires, insecurities, and fears. Or, if you would like to opt out of site personalization, simply skip over leaving us a comment! Points System According to the site, happiness can only be obtained through robbing another person of their happiness. With that in mind, the site has set up a points system that actively encourages visitors to harm each other and promises wonderful rewards for those who reach a certain amount of points. The points system is as follows. Targeting Party 5 points Small pranks 10 points Big pranks 20 points Acts of violence 60 points Betrayal on a personal level, destruction of one's status or economic standing 100 points + all of target's points Murder Targeted Party -5 points Small pranks -10 points Big pranks -20 points Acts of violence -60 points Betrayal on a personal level, destruction of one's status or economic standing If point balance in the positives, lose all points AND -100; otherwise, -100 points Murder Those with a positive amount of points will grow exponentially luckier the higher their points get, while those with a negative amount of points will grow exponentially unluckier the lower their points get. By default, all characters will begin with 0 points unless they opt into rolling for a negative or positive amount of points here and here, respectively. Please be mindful of one major caveat that comes with having the highest amount of points, however: the website's main page will always display the picture and name of the person with the highest amount of points and encourage visitors to go after that person in order to get the most amount of points. Please note that, unless you character ICly receives a ranking list from the site in a mod post, no one can ICly see the points of anyone other than themselves and the person in first place. In Summation... » The event will begin with a text message! » ICly, there will be a points system that incentivizes character participation and affects the fortunes of the characters. » Characters can play pranks on NPCs for points as well, but the site makes it clear that the main participants are magi. In addition to that, any major acts of violence that are carried out on NPCs should be run by the mods first. If you have any further questions about this event, please leave them here.

1. is it entirely ooc decision on whether characters start with positive or negative points? e.g. if a character is coping badly as a magi would you encourage them to start negative or is it entirely up to the RPer?

2. Will characters feel a compulsion to follow the site's instructions? (like, in February) Or is it only the site and their luck that will try to influence characters to start playing the [funky murder mystery music]?

If someone goes the murder route, do the typical Nyoi-cho death rules apply? As in, if someone gets killed and takes a bunch of points, would the other be able to return the favor at some other point during the event?

Question! Diarmuid is looking at the video Kakyoin was sent and I was wondering, if he compares the darkness in his soul gem currently (it's getting pretty tainted--oops) to the color and the density of the miasma in the video, would there be any noticeable similarities? He's trying to figure out what the miasma might be, and whatever darkens their soul gems has crossed his mind as a possible connection.

Is he way off base or might there be something here?

B.B. Hood, depending on point counters and previous CR, is going to be out for blood and points. SO. Generally, if she's a good friend of yours? Small prank! So, pretty much Madoka and Chiaki.

If she likes you? Big prank.

If she doesn't care much for you? Well, a little pinprick of pain never hurts too long. And if she flat out hates you, or you have a ridiculous amount of happiness points? Well, hmu. :) Let's play!

WHOOPS I PLAY SOMEONE ELSE. Yeah, Ryoko's.... gonna be doing her best to not participate. This whole thing sounds like a way to be horrible at other people, and she's tired of that nonsense. She'd much rather just. Go about her business.

Pokey is pretty sure this is all some serious BS considering he's seen it once or twice before in other games. That's not to say the dude won't still be tempted by it; he'll prank around here and there. But he won't be trying hard, considering he will probably attempt to actively encourage others not to.

Due to how sucky he considered the last month, he might attempt to actively protect anyone who could be a target and isn't playing if he has the chance. He isn't above getting violent if someone attempts to attack him during this, but he'll only really be attempting to bring it if they are.

He's starting with -51 points, so his luck is...not great, but he's the best off of the others who drew unlucky in this plot. So he'll be struggling for a bit before he gets enough luck to knock him up to a positive.

So starting off with a whopping -279 points is one Dave Strider, who was already in a very bad place to begin with and has recently lost a lot of people who meant the world to him. Needless to say, it won't be very difficult to manipulate him into taking part in the game, and it's very likely that he'll be trying his damndest to get out of the negatives. Given how deep in the red he is, he'll be pretty desperate about it, meaning that he might just be driven to violence.

Kyouko Sakura's also going to be an active participant who will go out of her way to pick fights with everybody. On top of that, she'll probably commit a lot of petty crime: using her magi powers to rob stores, for example. The website's ideology absolutely matches up with her own worldview, so she'll easily buy what it has to say.

Chara... is probably best avoided this month. They're going to be aiming for characters who are topping the scoreboard, and they've got absolutely no qualms about killing anyone whose name isn't "Asriel Dreemurr."

Axel, on the other hand, while experiencing a huge amount of misfortune himself, will refuse to take part in the game for anything. He'll also be coming to the defense of anyone who is targeted.

Having said that, though, I'm completely open to any of my characters getting pranked, injured, or outright killed during this event.

Thaaat said, Lemmy's pranks will be pretty juvenile and harmless for the most part. Stuff like leaving banana peels on the ground for people to slip on or prank calling on the mirrors. He DOES want fabulous prizes, though, so things might escalate into fighting or kidnapping! He probably won't kill anyone unless it's the result of a prank gone wrong (which I'm down for if you want that!)

And of course, feel free to use him as a punching bag! He's got 208 points, come and get 'em!

Yozora Mikazuki here has... surprisingly good luck for being in the bad luck region (-7) but I'm totally up for her falling even further down the ditch just because.

Be warned, though, for anyone that messes with her will find out (the hard way) that she bites back. Hard.

Madoka Kaname has a great deal of luck (231 points!) and she will not got out of her way to attack people or do anything mean. Her general MO will just be pranks, as good-natured as possible!

However, if someone tries to kill her, she will defend herself. She will try really hard not to kill anyone, talk people out of doing anything rash if they are targeting her. However, if she does have to, it will be a last resort, since she will be upset if she does kill someone, regardless of who it is.

Sayo is actually quite adept with messing with people, and due to her large negative point pool will likely use her power to mess with information and make herself invisible to set up harmless traps and scares for others.

If someone tries to prank her, she'll likely take it in stride, but outright violence will be met in kind.

Hit me up if you want to be one her targets or just be mean to the poor girl.

Lilith is starting out with a modest -122 points! She will fall for this website so hardcore, and needless to say... she's not above violence, if the rewards are high enough. One of her viewpoints is that death doesn't really matter in Nyoi-cho, so it's forgivable! gary is still coming back right??? she didn't really kill him right???? Lilith also won't hesitate to defend herself no matter who it is, because while death doesn't matter... her happiness does.

Basically Lilith is most likely going to snap so if you're looking for fun violence times.......

Taiga gets to start out with a whopping 275 points! She didn't ask for this!!! She's not going to be actively playing the game because it sounds way too stressful, and hey, she's in the positives so what does it matter, right????? Problem being... right now she is a huge target. If someone wants to steal her happiness, hit me the heck up...........

So Apple has a glorious 252 points, and this game is going to give her plenty to think about.

She doesn't think she's going to be participating. She's not really a prankster, and pranks that make the other person unhappy are the wrong thing to do anyway. But all those points mean she's going to be a huge target and I'm basically up for anything.

At best the game will make her stronger as she learns more about the ways privilege can impact people. At worst...well, she does have 'victim in a slasher film' written all over her.

She enjoys a good prank here and there, so she'll enjoy doing that to friends and strangers alike. But if she finds out someone is doing something seriously bad to a pal, ALL BETS ARE OFF YOUR ASS IS GRASS.
