Activity Check

Activity Check
(August 27-September 3)

The end of the month has arrived, and that means it's time for activity check. To pass AC, players need to type up a short paragraph explaining what their character has spent the month doing. Please provide links alongside your paragraph so that moderators can easily verify that said activity exists.

If you were accepted in the month of August or were on hiatus for at least two weeks, you need only check in by replying to this post.
If you are currently on hiatus, you can fill out AC after returning or get another player to fill out your AC for you.

Character: Yozora Mikazuki
Activity:
Yozora had started the month with mingling a little with Madoka and Sollux, if only to sate her own curiosities with specific topics. She was also the proud recipient of one (1) welcome gift from Ryoko, just before the event started.

Then, during the event itself, she had first participated via blinding people with her darkness magic, then proceeded to be killed by Diarmuid as soon as she had hit the positives. After coming back to life, she spent most of her time in her house and met with her friend from the previous event. Still, she did stalk the networks for further information and to keep herself informed of the comings and goings around Nyoi-cho. It might be important to note that she also screamed at her killer for being indecisive and broody.

Then, when the site became hacked for a day, she spent the time talking to and sometimes taunting various people and attempted the crack the code left behind on the website, while also discovering the character set for the place with the help of Sollux, and discussing what it could mean with Dave. Then shit went down and she attempted to dissuade others from doing stupid things, with little success.

Later, closer to the event's end, she discusses the nature of the event with Ryoko and welcomes a newcomer in her own way.

Then, there was the Nightmare that came at the end of the event...

Character: Raven Queen
Activity:

When the dust settled from the last nightmare, Raven was quick to defend her best friend forever after and attempt to comfort her friends who were suffering from what had happened.

When the event began, she tried to weakly laugh it off, though she couldn't resist pulling a few pranks. Naturally she wound up getting pranked herself.

But once she found out Madoka was in danger and innocent lives were being taken, she tried to offer herself so no one else would get hurt. When she woke up, sadly things had gotten even worse. As they tried to understand what was going on, warn others, her death had made her more cynical. Now with Sollux being turned into a Nightmare, she's determined to set things right.

Sayo spent most of the event creeping around while invisible and attempting to scare other people with her Witch routine. This drew the ire of a few people who didn't appricate her drawing arcane symbols on this house in red paint, which she responded to with overblown posturing and gloating.

Character: Diarmuid Ua Duibhne (Lancer)
Activity:

Happiness is something that varies from person to person. In the same vein, what someone considers a game may not be so in the mind of another. The game proposed by the website? Not something Diarmuid has any interest in playing, even though the thought of bringing Kyna back from her terrible end tempts him more than it should. To distract himself, he goes out Nightmare hunting and even enjoys a harmless prank from Madoka with a smile on his face.

(If learning what chocolate is and promptly becoming addicted can be considered harmless, that is.)

Things can never stay that simple though. Not when he is generally a man with bad luck and has had that bad luck compounded by a low starting score. It is not long until the game pulls him into it whether he wishes to play or not. The murder is accidental-a byproduct of his conflicted emotions and a lost grip on his empathy. That doesn't make him feel any better, though. In fact, it only makes things worse and it isn't long before he takes to the mirrors to try and work his way through the feelings that are tearing him up. Reaching out for help is actually successful and Diarmuid is able to pull himself back together slowly over the next few days....

Just in time for things to be sent spinning out of control all over again. Through a twist of fate, Kakyoin ends up with the leading score. Normally, this would be a good thing, except the website is far too good at tempting the young man and Kakyoin knows he has to pass the leading position to someone else lest he be tempted into something he will regret. That person is Diarmuid. Of course, it's not that easy, since no one knows how quickly the game will end. Kakyoin insists the only way to do this is to kill him. Diarmuid argues against it, but in the end has to give into the request. The last thing he wants is for his friend to end up looking for some other--more painful--way to die.

Once it is done, Diarmuid speaks out to everyone letting them know just how far their conflicts and greed have pushed someone who so many of them wanted to be their leader. He also announces his intent to go to Madoka's safe house and stay there until the game ends, hopefully forcing the game into some kind of stalemate.

Unfortunately, some people won't be swayed by sentiment and the game continues. Diarmuid speaks with Kakyoin once he wakes up and also tries to comfort Madoka when things become too much for her to bare alone. No matter what is happening outside, though, he stays in the safe house as he said he would. If anyone is going to beat his score, they will have to do it from scratch and not by killing him.

Eventually, the game ends and Diarmuid is glad to see their plan has at least partially worked out. However, there are still consequences and he wastes no time heading into Sollux's Nightmare to try and help out. On the way he has a conversation with Kakyoin about the train tickets some people have gotten and with Ryoko about what has happened to Kyuubey. Once inside the Nightmare, he runs into a very shaken Pokey and a very upset Kakyoin, devoting his time to helping his fellow magi instead of making his way into the Nightmare's center. He knows others are on their way there and it won't do to save one person only to lose others to the madness.

Activity: After discovering that going off to fight the bad guys alone was not nearly as clever an idea as she thought, Pyrrha was approached by Kyuubi with a second chance at life. She arrived on the beach of a new world where she met Garviel Loken.

While still in shock and coming to terms with the fact that she cannot return home and has no idea what has happened to the rest of JNPR, she talked to several people over the network, many who seemed like decent people in the same situation as she. But things seem equally chaotic in this world as some magi have taken to attacking each other in the hopes of attaining another wish - something Pyrrha doesn't trust, doesn't sanction but maybe understands the temptation of.

Dangerous though it may be out there, it is unlikely that she will hide away.

Character: B.B. Hood
Activity: What a difference a month makes.

After Kyuubey showed his face late last month, Bonnie went into planning another meeting and getting training together for the other magi, following a discussion with Madoka. Following that, the website went up. B.B. immediately played the game, despite it provoking her by letting her realize that she couldn't remember the name of her dog. While she started out pulling assorted pranks, it became fairly obvious that pranks weren't going to be enough for her to win. No, even telling her arch-nemesis that she wasn't a registered Darkstalker and therefore she was probably a fake didn't even help. She started taking note of those who were killing to get their points. Primarily, Chara, the then point leader shooting up to first, and thus took note of what she had to do to win.

While she only killed one, she still had been commissioned to kill Chara. To that point, she was provoked by Lucifer, who ignited a spark within her to find and kill Chara before anyone else could. Enter Lilith. She took it upon herself to change the game completely, completely torturing Bonnie, leading up to stabbing her to death in her throat.

When she came back, the rules changed. No longer was she planning to wait for the points leader to show up, she decided immediately that she had to win. That meant killing anyone that crossed her path. That meant, as well, torturing and tormenting a bystander. In the end however, she couldn't win against Lucifer, and during her fight against Shinoa, she discovered a power she had regained a while ago... and took it as a sign that she wasn't supposed to win. Nobody, not even herself, really cared about her happiness.

Still, as a present for playing, she got her train ticket and with it, damned the rest of the magi. She was on her own, in the end.

Character: Ryoko Asakura
Activity: Following losing her memories and worse, becoming a Nightmare at the end of July, Ryoko took to the mirrors to offer her services to anyone that was new, that needed a helping hand or wanted support, being away from home. Aaaand then, the game started. The website gave her a somewhat straightforward message about being strong enough to protect her friends and showing that she cares about them, but it wasn't enough to get her to start playing.

It was however, enough to give her pause when her friend didn't show up to school. With Taiga missing, Ryoko went looking for her for a while in the beginning, but eventually found herself staying at Madoka's for a while, in between looking for Taiga... and unfortunately, coming across Sollux. Finding out who killed him was an unintentional, fairly unwanted bonus as well.

She got to speak to Kyouko briefly, finding out about the train tickets to Tsukudo-cho, and coming across the realization that some actually were playing the game and getting things out of it. Still, she stood her ground, believing that it wasn't the right way to go about things. She knew it for sure when Taiga finally got in contact. She rushed over to Taiga's house, where she stayed for the rest of the event. Despite wanting to stay quiet and not think about it, she was still occasionally keeping her mirror open... which seemed to backfire immensely on her. Though she actually did consider going to meet Kyouko to face off against her, seeing what Lilith did to B.B. kept her from going... she didn't want anyone who worried about her to see her stabbed to death.

Still, she had a job to do as a magi, she felt. If she couldn't fight Nightmares, she gathered what information she could, from Dave and from Madoka, and after finding out that Sollux had been killed multiple times by someone else, she made one last attempt at getting information to everyone and pleading for those still playing to stop. In the end, she figured that those who were playing wouldn't be rewarded with anything, and they were fighting each other for nothing.

She, in the end, was completely and totally wrong.

Character: Noriaki Kakyoin
Activity: Once the event started, Kakyoin's kneejerk response was to immediately inform everyone he was having none of it, which he for the most part didn't. His first attempt to talk someone out of playing along was with Dave Strider, which despite the intentions of both involved parties ended in mutual accidental murder. Upon coming back to life in Dave's house, the two of them discussed what complete and utter disasters they were in startlingly similar ways. Following that, he checked in with Madoka and Ryoko for a short time.

And then Lilith happened. Lilith happened so much, and determining she was a potential risk to everyone at the rate she was going Kakyoin took it upon himself to sideline her temporarily. Unfortunately, given the way the points were falling that put Kakyoin squarely in first place, and despite everything he'd said against the game he found himself in a position where he didn't trust that he wouldn't go along with it if he won. The result was that he snapped in as calmly a way as one possibly could, accepting that nothing he did would work to stop Nyoi-cho from falling apart and willingly handing off first place to Diarmuid.

Once he came back from that he simply gave up trying to dissuade anyone, seeing no point in it. Instead he tried to determine what clues they might have had as to what's really going on, talked over things with Lilith and Bonnie to varying degrees of a lack of success, and eventually just spent a night disregarding everything for the sake of being a teenager for once.

Finally, when the game reached its finale after several compact mirrors smashed out of frustration, Kakyoin reached his breaking point before even getting through Sollux's Nightmare, grudgingly admitting he was in no shape to fight. Afterwards, he met Pokey back at Kakyoin's own house and acknowledged the clearly pointed out fact that he was heading for a worse breakdown in a bad way, admitting he flat-out refused help wherever he could for fear of what might happen to the people who offered it.

In short? Busy month, rough times, and a small part of internally doing this for the foreseeable future.

Activity:
Chihaya started the event off on the wrong foot, learning more than she'd intended about Kakyoin's version of the webpage. Still, she decided not to participate for a few reasons, some of them practical (she doesn't feel nearly strong enough), and some deeply personal.

By sheer luck (and a little paranoia keeping her indoors), her only encounters with participating magi were benign. She was ambushed by a terrifyingly cute monster, and they talked at length about WHY this event was happening. Then she bumped into a good friend, and they promised to stay safe.

A few quiet days later, Chihaya found out that her friend had died a quick but painful death, and spent much of the night talking things over with Yozora.

Things only went downhill from there, when she watched another friend have a minor breakdown, before learning that he'd sacrificed himself to lose first place. And then she had a surprisingly nice talk with the person who'd killed him. And learned that he'd killed Yozora, too.

In between discussing the possible meanings of this event, and possible ways to put an end to it (all of which were shots in the dark), she had just enough time to help out a new arrival before the end of the event turned everything upside-down.

By the end, Chihaya couldn't help but feel that she'd fallen into a pattern: she could only send her well-wishes to stronger magi willing to do the things she can't, and make blind stabs in the dark about what was going on.

So finally, with a push from her friend, and despite her own misgivings, Chihaya delved into the Nightmare and took that first step toward taking matters into her own hands...

Once he respawned, he continued being a little shit to everyone but never managed to regain his place near the top of the scoreboard. Up until halfway through the event, Lemmy's motto appeared to be CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.

And then this happened. Lemmy wasn't aware that Lilith was the one who killed him, so seeing her commit cold blooded murder really shook him up to the point where he more or less dropped out of the game. Still, his participation rewarded him with train tickets, so it wasn't a total loss, right? At the moment, he's being unhelpful at the boss battle.

Character: Dave Strider
Activity: Dave participated in the happiness game after being promised the chance to see his friends again. He was confronted first by Pokey, whom he briefly fought, then by Kakyoin. His fight with Kakyoin ended in both sides being killed. After he came back to life, he hauled Kakyoin's corpse back to his house so that Kakyoin could regen in a safe area. The two briefly talked about their mutual issues and confirmed that neither side meant to murder the other. After that, the site went down shortly after Dave received a picture of Dirk, and Dave freaked out and posted a plea to the site owner on the web. He also consolidated some information regarding the information the site had been giving out. Sometime later, he found the body of Pokey Minch and again ended up hauling a corpse back to his place. After Pokey came back to life, the two got into an argument, and Dave decimated his bridge with Pokey to cinders and came to the decision that he was done caring about the people of this place. After the game came to an end, Dave found, to his relief, that he'd received a train ticket.

Character: Kyouko Sakura
Activity: After receiving confirmation that Sayaka had left Nyoi-cho, Kyouko decided to participate in the game and ended up killing Sollux. When she ran into Pokey, they had a brief conversation where she threatened to kill him and attacked him before ultimately deciding to let him go. She also met Lucifer, whose philosophy she agreed with and whom she was friendly with at first. This did not last long, however. She spoke to Madoka several times throughout the month, showing concern for her wellbeing. When she received information on Sayaka that linked her to the train station, she made a mirror post inquiring about it. She also spoke to Yozora about the possible intentions of the person running the game and listened in on an info-consolidating mirror session where she mostly just got really pissed off at everyone. At the end of everything, she got the ticket she was after, so she can't say she really regrets any of her actions.

Character: Chara
Activity: Chara participated in the game and became the points leader early on by killing Taiga. This attracted the attention of Lucifer, who called them out over the mirrors and declared his intention to duel Chara. Chara agreed to Lucifer's challenge, under the condition that Lucifer find them first. However, their run-in with Asriel distracted them from the game, and while their points were never taken, their lack of participation from that point on made it easy for others to overtake their score.

On his way home Lilith killed him, when he revived again he decided to stay in his house until people stop being crazy. Still, with Madoka feeling worse and worse as the month wore on he became worried and felt compelled to visit her. As he made his way to her house Bonnie attacked him and brought him to her own house. There, she tortured him, killing him twice before letting him leave. As the event came to a close, Sollux was nightmare'd, forcing what few Magi who were still working together to fight their exhaustion and stop him from harming helpless citizens.

This month was a shitfest.

Pokey took to this month's premise like a house on fire, suspect that he knew what the event was actually about due to his experiences in Mayfield. It also got off to a great start with him trying to persuade Dave not to play which failed horribly and then getting the shit kicked out of him by Bonnie after his scuffle with Dave. He ended up having a talk with Kakyoin about not letting himself just sacrifice himself constantly during this event, which became a running theme throughout the month. After being shown his first point deduction thanks to the beatings he go, he handled it in a responsible manner by smashing his first phone in the street, his temper tantrum causing him to have a confrontation with Kyouko among other things.

He tried to persuade Raven not to sacrifice herself and failed. He also freaked out and felt guilt at Lilith's murder of Bonnie, wondering how much he'd helped encourage Lilith towards this. Once again he attempted to talk someone out of sacrificing themselves and failed, though he helped Diarmuid get to safety and to re-arrange Kakyoin's bookshelf.

Once Bonnie rezzed, Pokey would end up getting killed by her. He would revive a few days later where he would immediately freak out at the site's new threat and accidentally burn his bridges with Dave. He would run into Kakyoin again and end up talking about his feelings with the guy again, breaking down alongside the other teen, before they ended up talking about video games. Later he'd find, and get attacked by, a paranoid and scared Asriel, and would later try and talk with Asriel about his past.

With the end of the month and the reveal that the wish was possibly real, Pokey began to have an emotional break during his talk with Ryoko. He went to help in the fight with Sollux, and later on had one last talk about self worth with Kakyoin. It was a tiring and exhausting month, and it's left Pokey shaken on what to do next.

Character: Lilith
Activity: So this month, Lilith ruined everything. Being an incredibly gullible girl, she took the website at face value, and managed to convince herself that by winning the game she could get rid of Bonnie and make Nyoi-cho safer for her everyone! This included killing both Lemmy and Sollux, and having various other Magi tell her that she was making a giant mistake. But Lilith didn't care, and after a run-in with Bonnie's jerkface, calling her a worthless fraud, she had made up her mind even moreso to win.

So she killed Bonnie. She made sure Bonnie was very dead, and that everyone knew it. It was her stupidest idea yet, as it ended in Kakyoin killing her to keep her from harming anyone else. After some time being very dead, and some time thinking over things, Lilith realised she was a major asshole and sought to apologise on the mirror network. Bonnie was the only one who realised she was full of shit and didn't regret anything.

Character: Taiga Aisaka
Activity: Poor poor Taiga... Despite being one of the least happy people in Nyoi-cho, she started out in first place in the Happiness Game! This certainly wouldn't case her any issues, right? Except it did, and Chara stabbed her again and again and again. Thanks, kid. This terrified the poor girl for many, many reasons, and she holed herself up at home the entire rest of the time with Ryoko. Never fear though, because Taiga still managed to antagonise people over the mirrors. And why not pick fights with the girl your best friend stabbed again and again and again? Ryoko finally came clean to Taiga about killing Kyouko, which admittedly freaked her the heck out.

She's not having a very good time in Nyoi-cho.
