February Event Details / Plotting
A month has gone by, and characters have now gotten the chance to settle into their new life. Friendships are made, and strong camaraderies are forged on the battlefield as magi stand together and fight together against a common foe. Perhaps, for some, even love has begun to bloom. At least, if that isn't the case yet, it's about to be. The Arrival of a Mysterious Package... ...is what signals the beginning of this event. Not all characters will receive one, but for those who find one at their doorstep one day, their life is about to change drastically. The package is an unassuming little thing; heart-shaped, wrapped with red ribbons. There's a sender's name written on it, and perhaps the name is familiar to its recipient. When they open the package, however, they'll find that it's empty. A pleasant odor fills the air. This signals the change in them. The First Day. Maybe the change will be subtle at first, but increasingly, the supposed sender of the package will be all that the affected characters can think about. They'll want to be with this person all the time, and they'll be distressed and angered at the thought of having to spend time apart from them. If it just so happens that the character they're enamored with received a package of their own, then one can only pray that a perfect match-up occurs. Otherwise, the situation may become perilous. The Week Continues. As the week goes by, affected characters find themselves more and more obsessed. This obsession will lead them to become jealous, possessive, and maybe worse. It's possible that the obsession will lead them to take drastic steps in order to keep their beloved safe - ridiculous acts of unnecessary self-sacrifice, vicious threatening of any one of their supposedly "harmful" relationships, you name it. Valentine's Day. At the height of the ruckus, a Nightmare is born. It immediately takes notice of the negative emotions teeming in the hearts of the affected magi, and it seeks to prey on them. They will be the first to be lured into the nightmarescape. Once the unaffected magi take notice of their absence, rescue efforts might commence. The nightmarescape is not a terribly large or confusing one, and the journey to the center does not take long. Upon arriving, though, the rescuers will find that the Nightmare itself may not be the biggest problem that they'll face. The Nightmare they're confronted with this time is an illusionist with no coherent face or form. To the unaffected magi, it may seem like a being made of light, shimmering as it cycles through endless differing facial features. To the affected magi, however, it will look like the object of their obsession, and they will fight to the death to protect it. THIS PORTION OF THE EVENT IS TIME-SENSITIVE. IT WILL GO UP ON THE 14TH AT 12:00 AM EST AND WILL END, AT THE EARLIEST, ON THE 17TH AT 11:59 PM EST. |
| In Summation... |
» Characters will receive a mysterious package at their doorstep. These packages will be labeled as being from a sender that the character will recognize as being one of their fellow magi. » Characters who open this package will then become enamored with the "sender." » Not all characters will receive a package. Characters who do not receive a package will be unaffected. The choice is up to the individual player. » On Valentine's Day, a Nightmare will appear. It will use its familiars to lure all enamored characters into its nightmarescape. » Unaffected characters will realize that their friends are missing sometime later in the day, at which point exploration into the nightmarescape opens up. » Upon arriving at the center of the nightmarescape, unaffected characters will find that the enamored characters have chosen to fight on the side of the Nightmare, and will not respond to reason. If you have any further questions about this event, please leave them here. |

Oh, and what about if they encounter the person they're obsessed with during the fight? Like, if Vergil were to stand against Dirk in the nightmare while being obsessed with Dirk. And the illusionist is disguised as Dirk. Dirk Dirk Dirk Dirk Dirk.

Here's the thing, though: She already loves everyone around her - it's what she was created to do and how she was made to feel. So, really, this event amounts to little more than white noise to the Doll. She might be inclined to spend a little more time around the person whose name was on her package, but that's as exaggerated as her reaction will be. Her love is already pretty much maxed out as it is.
I don't have any ideas as to who her package will be labelled from, so if anyone would like to be the Plain Doll's valentine please let me know. She'll probably just thank them for the package (even if she's not entirely sure why they'd send her an empty package, she's pleased to be thought of at all) and maybe want to spend a little more time with them than usual.
Alternatively, if anyone would like their characters to fall in love with the Plain Doll, that's entirely welcome as well! She'll welcome the attention from her beloved Magi - at least until it leads to other magi being hurt out of jealousy.
Also, if you'd like your character to realize that the Doll got a package too and didn't lose her fucking mind over it, I would
loveenjoy that as well! It'd be neat to have someone realize how serious the Doll is when she says she loves everyone and be weirded out by it.no subject

But that's not the best part. One of Vergil's starting powers is getting stronger by being around people he loves and it's only based on his feelings for others; not everyone else's. Basically whoever's stuck with him is gonna have a pretty damn strong Vergil on their side...until the boss fight, anyway. That's when shit's gonna get weird and...complicated.
He may attack all other magi, even other mind controlled ones, during that fight, hard to sayANYWAY anyone who wants to put their characters through this trainwreck is absolutely welcome to super glue themselves to Vergil. I can't promise he'll react positively towards any/everyone who falls for him, but this is all gonna go down in a blaze of glory anyway.

However, I am more than willing to have her be the object of someone else's affections (trust me, you cannot be creepier than her canon stalkers). Even if it's magically induced, it would be a good way to get her to start considering how she interacts, or doesn't interact, with others. I mean it might make her more withdrawn if you're a jerk about it, but.

First, since the Plain Doll is going to be getting a package with Saber's name, would you like for Saber to get one with 'The Doll' written on it? They'll both be unaffected by the magic within the box, of course, but it might make for a cute misunderstanding where they each think that the other has an interest in them?
Second: Would you like the Doll's package to say 'Saber' or 'Arturia Pendragon? ' Im not sure how often Saber gives out her original name so I figured I'd ask

There is a slight catch, though - Rose comes equipped with an alien girlfriend (Kanaya) who will probably not be very happy about Rose obsessing over somebody new. So not only will the lucky package giver have to put up with a creepy, hyper-observant teenager watching their every move, there will also be a jealous alien to tag along in the fun.
If anybody would like to volunteer as tribute, then please let me know!

Honestly she won't know what to do about a creepy obsessive teenager being in love with her but she'll probably be pleased with the attention no matter how unhealthy it gets. No one has ever loved her in return, after all, so this would be a pretty big deal to her.

Madoka is not getting a package, but that being said, I volunteer her for being the love interest of anyone who gets a package and doesn't have a sender yet. Because nothing says Madoka like random, strange people she probably doesn't know, proclaiming they will protect her forever and ever until the day they die.

At the moment, I'm torn about whether Pokey will be getting a package or not. I hadn't been planning on giving him one, but if for some reason someone would want the weird dumbass teen to be yandere over someone, I sure wouldn't mind it. Alternatively, if someone wants to for some reason go yandere over/stalk him, I'd be up for that too.

But I do volunteer him be a sender to anybody. If only because in canon, he's (eventually) the weird stalker who steals fries, moves in, and then does all the housework he can manage. If he doesn't care about you already though, he'll probably just throw out all your gifts because he's rude. He's so rude.

The thing is Gary is already obsessive by nature. He just usually focuses said obsession with making people miserable and/or trying to obtain power to rule over everyone around him. He tends to go through dangerous methods of getting what he wants without thinking of the consequences so I imagine with this magic in place he'll be...significantly worse. So heads up?
Charon will also be getting a package but because he has a natural resistance to mental influence it wont be affecting him. I just thought it would be fun for him to get one anyway.
I'm open to both of them being the object of someone's affection. Gary will likely take advantage of it though (even if he's obsessing over someone else) and Charon will just grumble and and frown if someone starts following him around. If they get dangerous towards someone else he, uh...likely wouldn't hesitate to take action? SO YEAH.

Just throwing a suggestion at'cha, it's okay if you decide nah or already have senders!
As a sidenote, I'm not terribly confident of my wifi holding up where I am at the moment so if I disappear off the face of the earth sometime this week then backtagging might have to be a thing if you want to tag. I hope it does. :P

She may in fact be going into hiding a while out of jealousy at seeing so much love in the air while no one appears to like her enough to send anything. (Oh, if only she knew)- so if you want your muse to freak out at their crush not being around, that's one way to go that can still be done even if I'm not online!
Alternatively her soul gem is going to suffer a lot out of this and it's going to show in her nightmare-fighting abilities, but this is up in the air until I find out what the wifi is like where I'm at.

Ryoko on the other hand, I've decided won't be receiving a package and she's completely open to being a 'sender'. She'll definitely be flustered and flattered at the beginning, but goodness help both of you once things start getting real. She'll do her best to start actively avoiding whoever's crushing hardcore on her.
Good luck!

So basically expect Kanaya to find whoever gave Rose the package and end up on their doorstep with a chainsaw in hand looking less than forgiving. Not that she is likely to actually hurt someone, just scare them a little bit.

So, does anyone want to become obsessed with him or have a particularly nasty encounter during the final battle?

I was thinking for Maria to get the cute, little heart-shaped package with "Sir Diarmuid" written on it... but instead of opening it, she marches RIGHT OUT to inform him that it is not acceptable. They can be confused and pissed off over the package together, Maria opening it in his presence out of curiosity. If she falls in love then and there, he'd be wise to what's affecting the others.
I should also note that Maria is nonromantic and asexual, so her feelings of love fall more into "undying admiration". She's more likely to follow around Diarmuid demanding he teach her things and trying to impress him. Which, yeah, is pretty ridiculous by Maria's standards of distance.

My current plan is for Yuuya to not be getting a package, although he'll be doling out his usual flirty lines so feel free to suspect it. As things get messier and messier he'll be able to flip out of teenage-heartthrob mode and into super-agent mode to help with the rescues.
I'm totally open if anyone wants to get a package from him, though. Possibly for the mortification of realizing you loved and nearly fought to the death over a pigeon. (he's humanized for day-to-day life but you basically fell for a magical pigeon)

he'll get into rescue efforts if he gets something in return or if he somehow gets pulled into it 'cause of his shitty luck, though, definitely. B)d

I'm also up for anyone who wants to obsesses over her! It's all good!

What should be plotted is anybody interacting/going against her in the Nightmare as she will be on the other side this time. Maria is a very experienced fighter, skilled and fierce. She will not have her passive ability available, as it only activates when fighting against a Nightmare or Witch. Her Quickening ability will probably be used a lot more liberally that usual, however, as it's tied into her disappear/reappearing within the Nightmare itself.
SO, if your character is an inexperienced fighter, Maria should probably be avoided, unless you're looking to get into trouble. If your character has more experience and wants to really square off against another magi, this would be the time for it! I'm very opening to plotting out fights.

They can share a few intimate words as Maria tries to dislodge her blade from the Doll's wooden body.
