February Event Details / Plotting
A month has gone by, and characters have now gotten the chance to settle into their new life. Friendships are made, and strong camaraderies are forged on the battlefield as magi stand together and fight together against a common foe. Perhaps, for some, even love has begun to bloom. At least, if that isn't the case yet, it's about to be. The Arrival of a Mysterious Package... ...is what signals the beginning of this event. Not all characters will receive one, but for those who find one at their doorstep one day, their life is about to change drastically. The package is an unassuming little thing; heart-shaped, wrapped with red ribbons. There's a sender's name written on it, and perhaps the name is familiar to its recipient. When they open the package, however, they'll find that it's empty. A pleasant odor fills the air. This signals the change in them. The First Day. Maybe the change will be subtle at first, but increasingly, the supposed sender of the package will be all that the affected characters can think about. They'll want to be with this person all the time, and they'll be distressed and angered at the thought of having to spend time apart from them. If it just so happens that the character they're enamored with received a package of their own, then one can only pray that a perfect match-up occurs. Otherwise, the situation may become perilous. The Week Continues. As the week goes by, affected characters find themselves more and more obsessed. This obsession will lead them to become jealous, possessive, and maybe worse. It's possible that the obsession will lead them to take drastic steps in order to keep their beloved safe - ridiculous acts of unnecessary self-sacrifice, vicious threatening of any one of their supposedly "harmful" relationships, you name it. Valentine's Day. At the height of the ruckus, a Nightmare is born. It immediately takes notice of the negative emotions teeming in the hearts of the affected magi, and it seeks to prey on them. They will be the first to be lured into the nightmarescape. Once the unaffected magi take notice of their absence, rescue efforts might commence. The nightmarescape is not a terribly large or confusing one, and the journey to the center does not take long. Upon arriving, though, the rescuers will find that the Nightmare itself may not be the biggest problem that they'll face. The Nightmare they're confronted with this time is an illusionist with no coherent face or form. To the unaffected magi, it may seem like a being made of light, shimmering as it cycles through endless differing facial features. To the affected magi, however, it will look like the object of their obsession, and they will fight to the death to protect it. THIS PORTION OF THE EVENT IS TIME-SENSITIVE. IT WILL GO UP ON THE 14TH AT 12:00 AM EST AND WILL END, AT THE EARLIEST, ON THE 17TH AT 11:59 PM EST. |

» Characters will receive a mysterious package at their doorstep. These packages will be labeled as being from a sender that the character will recognize as being one of their fellow magi. » Characters who open this package will then become enamored with the "sender." » Not all characters will receive a package. Characters who do not receive a package will be unaffected. The choice is up to the individual player. » On Valentine's Day, a Nightmare will appear. It will use its familiars to lure all enamored characters into its nightmarescape. » Unaffected characters will realize that their friends are missing sometime later in the day, at which point exploration into the nightmarescape opens up. » Upon arriving at the center of the nightmarescape, unaffected characters will find that the enamored characters have chosen to fight on the side of the Nightmare, and will not respond to reason. If an affected character comes into contact with their "sender," the sudden shock of the encounter might take a great mental toll on them. The illusion will not be broken, but if your character is exceptionally rational, it may be possible to get them to realize that they're being tricked. It may also be possible that they'll come to the wrong conclusion and thus turn on their actual sender. Again, we're leaving this up to the individual player, as we imagine that the personality of the character in question and the relationship between the magi involved will go a long way in influencing the outcome. After all, if Vergil is familiar with Dirk's mannerisms and personality, it'll be that much easier to show him who the real Dirk is!
