December Event Details / Plotting
On the 17th, the magi of Nyoi-cho will receive a letter at their doorstep, with no sign of who the sender is. “Christmas is coming! Were you Naughty or Nice? Find out at the park soon, and remember: Santa is always watching!” Peace reigns over the town otherwise; throughout the month the air holds a mild chill, and snow barely dusts over the roofs and treetops. The townspeople go about their lives as normal, donning light coats in order to adjust to the lowered temperatures. The Results On the morning of the 23rd, a sign decorated with garland, holly, and mistletoe appears in the park, bearing the names of the residents of Nyoi-cho in scrawling font. One by one, it lists every single inhabitant, following their name up with the most important ruling of December: whether they are Naughty or Nice. As the list goes on, however, it becomes increasingly obvious that something is wrong; for starters, every single non-magi in town is listed as Naughty. On top of that... Well, see for yourself. Surely there's been some mistake, or maybe this is just an elaborate prank of some sort.
If this is a prank, though, it doesn't stop at just the list. Upon returning home, magi will find their doors decorated for the season. The houses of Nice magi are decorated with garland and mistletoe, whereas the houses of Naughty magi are decorated with garland and holly. The decorations, as it it turns out, have unforeseen effects on the magi. Holiday Spirit It may be more subtle in some, but magi who have noticed their new decorations will experience a change in behavior that seems perfectly natural in their eyes, if a bit unreasonable to those around them. Nice magi will feel more compelled to be cheerful and giving, embodying the spirit of the Holidays. Naughty magi, on the other hand, will be compelled to be more dour and mischievous, seeking to ruin the holiday spirit of those around them. Santa Returns Christmas Day arrives, and with it...? In Summation... » On the 17th, the magi receive a letter about being Naughty or Nice. » On the 23rd, the magi receive their judgements and return home to find decorations that alter their behaviors. » They will feel compelled to either fill Nyoi-cho with cheer and joy, or destroy the happiness around them.
